Management Tools
Management tools documentation covers RouterOS administration interfaces and utilities such as WinBox, WebFig, SSH, RoMON, Dude, Quick Set, FlashFig, branding, and mobile apps. Use this section to manage, access, and customize RouterOS devices.
Branding
RouterOS Branding package enables customization of system elements including router name, company URLs, ASCII logos, and WebFig interfaces. It supports custom file inclusion for login pages, skins, and hotspot logos while providing version-specific options like SNMP name hiding.
Command Line Interface
The MikroTik RouterOS Command Line Interface page introduces console access for managing router configuration and scripting, covering login options like terminal customization and banner messages. It explains basic commands such as help, tab completion, and directory navigation.
Console
The console provides text-based access to MikroTik RouterOS configuration and management features, including command execution in hierarchical menu levels for tasks like route printing or pinging. It supports remote and local access, script writing, and path navigation using commands like /ip/route/print or /.. for level transitions.
Dude
Dude is a legacy network management tool discontinued by MikroTik, now offered without further updates or enhancements. Users are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative solutions for network management tasks.
FlashFig
FlashFig is a Windows utility for rapid, high-volume configuration of MikroTik RouterBOARDs by transmitting RouterOS settings via Layer-2 networks in seconds. It supports flash-boot mode for automated provisioning, with detailed instructions for enabling it on older models and using scripts.
MAC server
The MAC server section in RouterOS enables configuring MAC Telnet, WinBox, and Ping servers for router access without IP addresses. It allows restricting access to specific interfaces and provides tools to manage sessions, with examples showing how to enable/disable MAC Telnet and connect via client.
MikroTik mobile app
The MikroTik mobile app provides both basic and advanced configuration options for MikroTik routers on Android and iOS, offering a user-friendly setup interface with QR code download links and quick configuration steps.
Quick Set
Quickset is a simplified configuration wizard for MikroTik routers, offering quick setup via HomeAP, CPE, CAP, and other modes for home or enterprise use. It includes wireless networking, internet connectivity, local network settings, VPN options, and system management in a single interface.
RoMON
RoMON is a Router Management Overlay Network that establishes an independent MAC layer network for secure router management, using EtherType 0x88bf and DST-MAC 01:80:c2:00:88:bf. It allows ports to participate with configurable IDs and costs, supports dynamic ACL rules for packet forwarding, and uses MD5 hashing
Serial Console
The Serial Console and Terminal tools enable direct device communication via serial ports for initial or recovery configuration, supporting up to 132 devices. The page explains null-modem cable configurations for hardware flow control, including options without handshake and with partial or full handshake capabilities.
SSH
RouterOS includes a built-in SSH server with customizable settings such as cipher configurations, key types, and forwarding options. It supports password and public-key authentication, with commands to export/import host keys and regenerate them. PKI authentication can be enabled by importing public keys for users.
TR-069
The TR069 page documents the MikroTik RouterOS implementation of CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP) for remote device management, covering configuration settings like ACS URL and authentication, read-only status monitoring, commands for resetting configurations, CWMP session details, parameter data models based on BBF standards, and firmware upgrade procedures using Download RPC.
WebFig
WebFig is a web-based RouterOS utility enabling monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting without additional software. It supports HTTPS with certificate management, including wildcard certificates, and provides secure access via SSL/TLS for router configuration.
WinBox
WinBox is a GUI utility for administering MikroTik RouterOS with Linux/macOS support via Wine, offering secure connections through AES128-CBC-SHA encryption and ECSRP authentication. It provides simple and advanced modes for connecting to routers, with neighbor discovery for discovering nearby devices while avoiding incompatible protocols.
